The best option for beginners is to use a “melt and pour” soap base, which gives you the freedom to experiment with scents and ingredients. Gently twist the end of the wire into the top center of the block of wood or make a small hole and glue it in. Fill it with cheerful snaps and adorn your mantels, desks and rooms with joy all year round.

Wearing gloves, mix colors into individual squeeze bottles. Twist, bunch, fold, or bundle a plain cotton tote bag or other white cotton item and secure with elastic bands.
Squirt a liberal amount of dye onto the project and get creative with techniques. Be careful to limit too much cross-contamination between colors and allow portions to sit for a moment before adding more.
Rest overnight in a zip-top plastic bag before putting the gloves back on and carefully removing the elastics. Rinse under cold water until clear, then wash normally, hang to dry and enjoy your fabulous new accessory.
Candles are a wonderful way to add warmth, light and fragrance to your home, but they usually come at a high price. With a few utensils and a bit of know-how, it’s really easy make candles yourself burn at home or give away to friends.
Gather used and clean jars, place a wick in the center and melt soy wax in a saucepan over a stovetop and add your desired scent and/or color. Carefully pour the hot wax into each jar and secure the wick with skewers. Allow the wax to cool completely, then trim the wick to the correct size.
