Adam Amdor appointed Assistant Director of Communications at the University of Northern Iowa | Wbactive

CEDAR FALLS – Adam Amdor has joined the University of Northern Iowa’s Department of University Relations as Associate Director of Communications.

Amdor, a UNI graduate, has almost 20 years of communications and media experience. He will oversee the day-to-day operations of UNI’s communications and content team while leveraging relationships with key community and media partners across the state. He will also lead the University’s internal and external communications and manage the placement of stories in local, state and national media channels, as well as UNI’s official web and social media platforms.

“We are delighted to have someone with Adam’s professional expertise join our University Relations team,” said UNI University Relations Director Pete Moris. “Adam’s network of media and communications professionals across the state will be a great asset to UNI. Additionally, his graduate institutional experience and background working in local media make him an excellent candidate for this role. Our department is excited to welcome Adam back to campus as we continue to develop and refine our content and communications strategy.”

Amdor joins the University Relations team after seven years with MercyOne, a system of healthcare facilities, hospitals and clinics throughout the Midwest. Amdor most recently served as PR and Content Manager for MercyOne and acted as the national media liaison representing the healthcare provider at the corporate level. He was promoted to this role after serving as communications and media director for MercyOne’s service division in eight counties in Northeast Iowa.

“I look forward to returning to the University of Northern Iowa and helping advance their commitment to the state of Iowa and beyond,” said Amdor. “It’s an exciting time at UNI and I look forward to sharing the many stories of its students and faculty, programs and wider impact on communities across the country.”

Adam graduated from UNI in 2004 with a BA in Electronic Media. He began his career as a UNI intern at KWWL-TV, the Waterloo-based NBC affiliate. He started out as a video editor, photographer and producer and later served as an executive producer and assignments manager at KWWL to deliver news in a 22-county area of ​​northeast Iowa. In addition to developing story content and collaborating with on-air talent, he coordinated on-site coverage of major events such as the Iowa Caucuses and RAGBRAI.

Adam is originally from Corning and has lived in the Cedar Valley since graduating from UNI. He lives in Waterloo with his wife Sommer and their two-year-old daughter.
