Infiniti Energy gets creative on five solar projects for real estate company Kaplan

Solar power developer and independent power producer Infiniti Energy is developing and building five solar projects at Kaplan Companies locations in New Jersey utilizing three distinct ownership models: community solar, solar power purchase agreements (PPAs) and direct ownership.

“Working with Kaplan on these solar projects has been good for Infiniti Energy to demonstrate that the three ownership models we work with offer real estate companies strong value. Kaplan has decided to stay ahead of a market where owners and renters are demanding more sustainable living spaces. By showing that these solar ownership models not only enable more sustainable living, but also make financial sense. Energy tariffs can be set and additional revenue can be generated from previously unused rooftop space,” said Michael Kushner, CEO of Infiniti Energy.

Kaplan Companies is a family owned real estate company that has been in business since 1952. The five projects together have more than 2 MW. New Energy Equity LLC is a portfolio financing partner of Infiniti Energy and Kaplan Community Solar is being co-developed with Nexamp.

Camelot in Bayonne Apartments in Bayonne, NJ was the first of five projects scheduled for completion in June 2021, with Camelot in Townekake in Sayreville, NJ being completed in December 2021. The other three will be completed and operational by June 2022.

The five projects include:

  • Camelot in Bayonne – 156 kW
  • Camelot at Townelake – 201 kW
  • Gateway at Carteret – 180kW
  • Merriewold at Highland Park – 308 kW
  • Kaplan Community Solar – 1,189kW

We have tons of video interviews and additional content on our YouTube page. We recently debuted Move forward! — a collaboration with BayWa re to discuss high-level industry issues and best practices/trends for running a solar business today.

Our longer running side project is The pitch — where we have uncomfortable discussions with solar manufacturers and suppliers about their new technologies and ideas so you don’t have to. We’ve discussed everything from attaching railless decks in residential buildings and financing home solar systems to large-scale energy storage value stacks and utility-driven new home solar and storage microgrids.

We also publish our announcements about the project of the year there! Interviews with this year’s winners will be published beginning the week of November 8th. Go there and subscribe today to keep up to date with all these extras.
