SAN DIEGO, CA, April 19, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — Jackson Design and Remodeling announced today that it has won two National Contractor of the Year (CotY) awards from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). JDR’s boho-chic farmhouse in La Jolla received top honors in the Entire Homes, $750,001-$1,000,000 category. The company’s elegant Tuscan-inspired kitchen remodel won in the Residential Kitchens Over $150,000 category. The projects were recognized for outstanding achievements in a competition with finalists from seven regions of the country. JDR is the only San Diego company to have won a national CotY award and this is the 17th consecutive year that JDR has been recognized for its work by NARI. The CotYs are considered one of the highest awards in the home design and remodeling industry.
Each year, NARI gives CotY Awards to members who have done outstanding work through their remodeling projects. The CotY Awards are the highest form of recognition from industry leaders and peers. For the 2022 awards, NARI received 410 entries from across the United States, representing over $116 million in remodeling projects. NARI announced this year’s national winners at the Evening of Excellence event held during the NARI Annual Conference in Savannah, Georgia. “These prestigious honors reflect the talent, hard work and dedication of our team. Each of the winning projects has a distinctly different style and demonstrates the meticulous attention our design and architecture team dedicates to creating memorable, beautiful homes,” said JDR President and CEO Todd Jackson.
JDR’s 2022 National CotY Award-winning projects in detail
Boho chic farmhouse
For this home in La Jolla, within walking distance to the beach, the homeowners loved the location but needed a lot more space. They wanted a modern farmhouse design with an open coastal feel. The JDR team managed every aspect of the comprehensive remodel of the entire home, doubling the square footage and adding a second level. The new exterior enchants with a clean and classic farmhouse design in modern black and white. Textured surfaces, reclaimed wood paneling, and bold rattan lighting on the front door echo elements of the interior design. Inside, plenty of natural light and fresh sea breezes flow through multiple windows and glass doors. Bold boho lighting and patterned walls create individual character for each room and visual continuity throughout the home. The kitchen and dining area is open to the expansive living space and a backyard oasis for the homeowners to entertain friends and family. This inviting beachfront retreat with chic boho details embraces California coastal living with a modern angle.
Elegant Tuscan cuisine
A retired couple who love to cook and host on a grand scale wanted a large, inviting kitchen with traditional touches. The family room and kitchen in the existing design felt separate, and a significant variation between the ceiling heights in the two rooms made the kitchen feel dark and cavernous. The JDR team aimed to balance the size of the two rooms and bring unity to the space with a Tuscan design with modern touches. An extension created more space and raised the ceiling. An arched window above the sink – along with new glass doors in the family room – reinforced the visual connection to a beautiful garden and pool. Substantial cherry wood cabinets complement a carefully crafted barrel ceiling. Wrought iron consoles on the cooktop hood and natural stone elements give the new kitchen a sense of old-fashioned elegance. Softer design elements and layers of light give the space a modern influence that now welcomes friends and family for large gatherings.
“This year’s entries were outstanding, which made the job of our valued judges very difficult,” said Tracy Wright, CAE, Senior Director of Membership and Chapter Services at NARI. “The panel of industry experts selected the winners based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation and difficulty.”
The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) provides home remodelers with tools that enable them to work at a higher level. The annual turnover of NARI members is almost three times the industry average because of the knowledge, network and support they receive. In addition, NARI connects homeowners with its professional members so consumers have a positive remodeling experience with a professional, qualified remodeler. Visit NARI.org for more information.
