Spring home improvement tips from HGTV’s Chip Wade

He says vinyl siding and things of that nature have historically been lighter because the UV light hits them, and dark colors haven’t held up so well to the elements until now. He says we have a new product from Ply Gem Home Design called Mastic Board and Batten Designer Series Siding; It has a breakthrough technology called Solar, the reflection technology that allows us to get those richer dark tones that are so popular. Inside the house, Chip says one of the easiest things you can do is swap out your shower head. If you’re going to paint and upgrade and just touch up everywhere, Chip says you need to make sure all your surfaces are pre-sealed and have a product that he says is better than silicone. It’s from DAP and it’s called AMP Hybrid Sealant. He says it is superior to silicone in its paintability, its application on wet surfaces; It absorbs little dirt and is crystal clear, making it good for the kitchen, bathroom, indoors and outdoors, and is available from Home Depot.

It’s getting warmer and the grass is starting to peek out. Chip says we need to make sure all of our small engines on our lawnmowers, our trimmers, and our chainsaws are in good working order. He says clean those air filters but don’t forget to swap out your spark plugs with ones made for these small engines like the Autolite Iridium Xtreme Start spark plug and says they’re easy to swap out and you’ll have a season long enhanced performance.
